Bridge Fibre are teaming up with our sister company (Bridge Partners) and working together as one throughout January to focus on our mental health and wellbeing.

January is consistently reported to be the month people are more likely to suffer from mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety, and has the highest suicide rates of the year. The long dark days, cold weather, post-Christmas blues and financial hit from the festive period all play a part in making January a tough month for everyone.

Physical activity has a huge potential to enhance our wellbeing. Even a short burst of 10 minutes’ brisk walking increases our mental alertness, energy and positive mood. Participation in regular physical activity can increase our self-esteem and can reduce stress and anxiety. It also plays a role in preventing the development of mental health problems and in improving the quality of life of people experiencing mental health problems.

This is why we have created a Mental Health & Well-Being Month – with a programme packed full of fun activities designed to help us get moving, motivated and become more mindful of our own mental health.

Whilst we have fun – we will also be raising money for our local branch of the charity ‘Mind’ -Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and South Lincolnshire (CPSL) Mind. Mind is a mental health charity, based in the UK, that offers information and advice to people with mental health problems and lobbies government and local authorities on their behalf. It also works to raise public awareness and understanding of issues relating to mental health.
